Karnataka Rajyotsava: Representing IZee’s Cultural Affection

Karnataka Rajyotsava: Representing IZee's Cultural Affection

If one closely follows IZee Business School’s journey, one will notice that it is deeply connected to culture and tradition and adopts them as a core value. Continuing the legacy, IZee, one of the top B schools in Bangalore, celebrated Karnataka Rajyotsava. It is recognised on the 1st of November, and a holiday is celebrated annually. A celebration of the same was organised on 15th November on campus. The celebration was founded on poet Kuvempu’s inspirational quote, “Wherever you are, however you are, always be a Kannadiga.”

Dr Saraswathi Kumbale, esteemed principal of IZee Business School, and other faculty members commemorated the event by hoisting Karnataka’s flag. The state anthem, Nada Geethe, followed the flag hoisting. Ms Anamika filled the atmosphere with spiritual vibes when she performed the invocation song. A welcome speech by Ms Mrudhushree followed the performance. All traditional celebrations are incomplete without elements like the lighting of the lamp by respected people, which succeeded the speech with Kachevu Kannada Dha Deepa, a song honouring Karnataka’s legacy. All the people present on campus were up for some groove. Cultural performances, including energetic dances and a group song by Yashaswini and her team, put the stage on fire, and the audience greatly appreciated it. Next, the trio of Dr Saraswathi Kumbale, Mr Harish, and Ms Yashaswini translated the cultural presentation of Karnataka’s rich history and cultural heritage into insights and words.

The celebration concluded with the peak of the event—Dollu Kunitha, a traditional drum dance that is Karnataka’s pride. Everyone at IZee, including the faculty and students, joined in the ground to enjoy the festivities with dance and drums. The ground was full of high decibels and the higher energies of the faculty and students. The conclusive dance highlighted their unity, joy, and community representation—the Kannada Rajyotsava. Each drum beat was a testament to Kannadigas’s collective pride in the spirit of Karnataka. Events like these call attention to the IZee’s values of culture and its complete showmanship. To conclude the whole event in a quote, it would be correct to remark on what Mohit said when addressing the Karnataka Rajyotsava:

“We are not just November Kannadigas, but Kannadigas all year round.”
